Reynolds Named New Cheer and Dance Coach

06/14/2017

William Penn University Athletics Director Nik Rule is proud to announce that Abby Reynolds has been hired as Head Cheer and Dance Coach.

Reynolds, who will be the first full-time cheer and dance coach in school history, comes to William Penn from her alma mater Baker University, where she most recently served as Welcome Center Coordinator in the Admissions Department.

Beyond her duties at Baker, Reynolds was also the Head Cheer Coach at Eudora High School in Kansas for the past two years, coordinating all aspects of that program.

“We are very excited to have Abby take over our cheer and dance programs,” Rule said.  “She brings a level of passion and enthusiasm and will create a clear vision for success, which was exactly what we were looking for to lead the student-athletes in each program.  We look forward to having her a part of the Statesmen family.”

A graduate of Baker in 2013 with a degree in Communications, Reynolds will bring strong recruiting skills as she also served as an Admissions Representative at Wayland Baptist University for one year after graduating.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the William Penn Athletic Staff and for this opportunity to take a step forward in my coaching career as a Statesmen,” Reynolds said.  “There is a lot of potential within the program and I cannot wait to get this season started with the spirit squad.”

At Wayland Baptist, Reynolds was also the Assistant Cheer Coach, helping the cheer and dance teams qualify for nationals.

After her time at Wayland Baptist, Reynolds worked at Tyler Junior College in the Student Life Department, specializing in social media content and managing the student worker program.

As an undergrad at Baker, Reynolds was a three-year member and team captain of the cheer program; she danced one year as well.  Reynolds also helped the Wildcats to a trip to nationals.

Reynolds, who began dancing at just 1 1/2 years old, competed on her high school’s dance team for three years and was on the cheer squad for two seasons.

Reynolds is currently working on her Master’s of Sports Administration from Baker.
