William Penn University Introduces the Community to the Johnston Campus
05/29/2018
William Penn University held a memorable open house on Monday, May 14, 2018 to celebrate its new Johnston campus. The new metro location greeted Paula Dierenfeld, Mayor of Johnston, Kelsey Clark, Director of Johnston Chamber of Commerce, and many other guests interested in learning about the new William Penn campus. Refreshments and appetizers were served while guests toured the campus and learned from William Penn representatives about the programs offered and benefits of the new location.
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place outside the building with William Penn staff, community members, and supporters. Jerry Ellis, Chair on the Board of Trustees, was also present for the afternoon’s festivities. William Penn President John Ottosson gave remarks, followed by Mayor Dierenfeld, welcoming William Penn to the community.
“We’re thrilled to be here [in Johnston]. This type of opportunity is very much what William Penn is about—to give people access to education,” said Ottosson. “This facility is one of the best we’ve had. We believe it’s going to be a long time that we are in Johnston.”
William Penn’s Johnston campus opened to students this year on January 2, making classes more accessible to central Iowans by increasing educational opportunities for both classroom and online learning. William Penn’s featured programs are designed specifically for people who want to advance or change their careers and even earn or finish their degree on their own schedules. Classes begin every eight weeks. Students can earn their Bachelor’s degrees in business management, human resources management, psychology, sociology, and human services at the Johnston location. For graduate studies, William Penn also offers a Master’s of Business Leadership degree.
