Melissa Schettler, M.A.
Assistant Professor | Elementary Education / Reading
Her appreciation for higher education and adult learning is what brought Melissa Schettler to WPU in 2018. After teaching elementary students for nine years, she is passionate about preparing future educators. During her time as an elementary educator, she held various leadership roles such as Co-Facilitator of PBIS and building leadership and literacy teams. By incorporating these experiences with cooperative learning and collaboration among peers in her classrooms, she is able to challenge her students and better prepare them for their careers after graduation. As she is a life-long learner, Melissa frequently reads new texts and takes courses to stay current in higher education trends while applying those new techniques to her course work. Melissa loves supporting the athletic teams of her Alma Mater, the University of Iowa, spending time with her family, and enjoying the outdoors.
