Jacob Taylor is proof you don’t need to go far from home to get the full college experience.
With only living a few miles outside of Oskaloosa, Jacob quickly immersed himself in the many activities William Penn offers. From the opportunity to play golf and be part of a team, to his active involvement with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Campus Ministries, Jacob has relished every experience.
He especially loved the relationships he made throughout his time at William Penn. Jacob knew early on the importance of getting involved.
“I made an effort to get involved from the start and met so many people I would have not met otherwise,” says Jacob. “Get involved in a team or group of any kind outside of class. You’ll create a new group of friends and experiences.”
When deciding on where to attend college, Jacob chose William Penn because it offered his preferred major of Industrial Technology; attending gave him the ability to continue to be involved and the small student to teacher ratio. The modest class size allowed for a deeper connection with professors as well as more meaningful discussion and guidance in class.
“One of my favorite parts of Penn is how much the professors care about the students,” says Jacob. “They truly want to see you succeed.”
After completing his undergrad a year early, he’s now on track to finish his Master of Business Leadership through William Penn’s graduate studies. He hopes to work at MUSCO Lighting and continue to develop his leadership skills.
