From the beginning, Jaylin Carter ‘20 knew the importance of getting the full #WPexperience.
Jaylin came to William Penn with a goal in mind: to gain real-world experience in the communications field. After researching William Penn’s Communication Research Institute (CRI), Jaylin knew it was the perfect fit to grow professionally.
She especially loved the connections she made between the Oskaloosa community and the Statesmen Family.
“I’ve had the opportunity to work with a variety of programs and organizations throughout the community because of the connections I’ve made at William Penn,” says Jaylin. “The support I received from many (WPU) alumni blew me away. It’s so important to build those connections.”
Building connections opened doors for Jaylin and provided her with real-world experience and dependable references. During her time at William Penn, Jaylin was a student worker in the University’s marketing and communications department, a member of the CRI media lab team, and worked with Musco Lighting in Oskaloosa.
“William Penn has granted me so many opportunities to grow as an individual, and step out of my comfort zone,” says Jaylin. “I feel more ready to enter the real world thanks to the faculty and staff here.”
After completing her education in December, Jaylin is heading to Florida to further her career.
