Meet Kade Dunkin, a senior at William Penn University majoring in Biology. Hailing from Hamilton, Iowa, Kade is an outdoors enthusiast with a passion for hunting, fishing, and wildlife ecology. When he’s not spending time with friends and family, you can find him enjoying sports or exploring the natural world.
Kade chose William Penn because of its affordability, strong academics, and the opportunity to continue his shooting career. The welcoming environment and small-town feel reminded him of his high school, and he quickly felt at home on campus. Academically, Kade’s experience has been outstanding. He appreciates the small class sizes and personalized attention from professors, which have helped him excel. One professor in particular, Pete Eyheralde, has had a significant impact on Kade’s journey. Pete’s biology courses have equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary for a successful career in natural resources, and Kade credits him for pushing him to be his best.
Despite being a commuter student, Kade has felt a strong sense of community on campus. He’s actively involved in the Wildlife Ecology Club and the shotgun sports team, where he has built lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. Whether banding ducks or competing in shooting tournaments, Kade values the camaraderie and shared experiences with fellow students who have similar interests.
William Penn has played a pivotal role in Kade’s personal and professional growth. It has helped him become more organized, self-reliant, and ambitious. Through hands-on research projects like his current study on the American Beaver’s tree preferences, Kade has gained valuable knowledge that will aid him in his future career in natural resources.
As Kade prepares for graduation, he’s grateful for the friendships and connections he’s made along the way. He’s excited to embark on a career working with wildlife and contributing to environmental conservation, and he knows William Penn has given him the tools to succeed. When asked to sum up his experience at William Penn, Kade says, “William Penn University will prepare you with the necessary skills to live out a successful and happy life!”
