Lauren Sylvester ’25
Hometown: Ollie, IA
Major: Nursing
Upon graduating from Pekin High School, Lauren Sylvester chose to attend William Penn University to pursue her Nursing Degree. With a rich history of healthcare workers in her family, many of whom have served as role models, she has known for a long time that she wanted to be a Nurse. She liked WPU’s small class sizes, the strength of the Nursing program, and the proximity to home.
Lauren enjoys the relationships in the Nursing program, “The faculty and staff are all very supportive, they truly want me to be the best nurse I can be.” The Student Nursing Organization has been an impactful group for her, she was recently selected Most Outstanding Member of the group at the Honors Banquet. Her most memorable experience so far at WPU was serving on the Halloween Festival committee – an event held on campus for the community. “It was so much fun to see local families come and participate in this event.”
In addition to her school work, Lauren works at Mahaska Health Partnership as a CNA in the In-patient and Emergency Departments. Her faith is important to her as well, she loves that WPU allows her the ability to be active with the Worship Team on campus, helping to host weeknight worship each Thursday. “I am very happy in my choice to attend WPU, I’ve been able to build strong relationships with my professors and classmates. And I have been able to be a part of the campus community.”
